The Importance of Body Language – It’s Not What You Said, It’s How You Said It

Ever meet or talk to anyone in life, whether it was a random stranger, significant other, family member, or friend and have them talk to you in such a way that you just want to punch them in the teeth or pay someone to do it for you?

I have tried to explain to people before that it’s not even that you disagree with me or I disagree with you. It’s not even the topic at hand or the fact you might be trying to insult me right now — it’s really just you.

It’s not what you said it’s the way you said it. That tone in your voice and your body language says it all before you even make one sound. So when you start to speak I just want to punch you right in the eyes or avoid you like the plague.

punch to the face

It’s the way you look at me, the way you treat me like a child, and that arrogant stance you take that says I’m right and you’re wrong and there’ll be no question about it. It’s the way you make sarcastic remarks with that smirk on your face. It’s the way your eyes move while you talk. It’s the way your mouth forms around each vowel that makes me want to dodge out of your way like you’re going to spit poison in my eye. It’s the way you stand like I’m a just a peasant and you’re the queen of my world.

The fact is, you’re just an arrogant asshole and no one should ever have to tolerate you in their presence.

So make your points and have your conversation. Say what you will, but I’m not listening. I don’t care what comes out of your mouth, the fact you’re even talking to me and I’m in range to hear you makes me sick to my stomach. Looking at you while you treat me this way has me wishing I was blind. Hearing the words come out of your mouth makes me wish that I was deaf.

If I’ve ever believed anything positive you’ve ever said to me, right now I’m doubting what I heard was even true.

This is what crosses my mind when you communicate with me in this way. It’s important you should know how you’re perceived although, I doubt you’d say you even care.

No matter what I say to you, you just won’t get it. You’ll continue your disagreements in the same way. So lately I’ve gone inward and become more quiet, just to avoid listening to what you’re trying to say.

Your points…you have none, I wish that weren’t the case. What caused you to turn into such evil that makes me wonder why we’re together in the first place?

In the end no one can benefit when you’re not listening to what I’ve said. It’s not what you said or are saying, it’s the way you say it that I dread.

never forget how you made them feel
