The Ring Of Last Resort

“So did you get it?”

“Yes, it will be ready on Valentine’s Day.”

“What’s it look like?”

“Hold on, I’ll show you a photo.”

Tim fished in his pocket for his phone.

“It looks like this.”

“Wow…that’s beautiful.”

“I know, I hope she’ll like it.”

“Tim don’t be stupid — Monica is going to love it.”

She noticed he wasn’t entirely convinced.

“Look, you could probably ask any girl you met to marry you and she’d say yes from just seeing that ring.”

“You really think so?”

“Would I have said it otherwise?”

He thought for a minute and then shook his head slowly.

“Probably not.”

The bartender walked up to him.

“What can I get you?”

“I’ll take a 7/7 and my sister will have….what are you drinking sis?”

Melanie spoke up.

“I’ll have a Malibu and coke.”

He put $20 on the bar as the bartender walked away.

“So where are the kids?”

“I left them at moms for a bit. I’m only going to stay for a drink or two, then I have to get them. I’m already running late from ring shopping.”

“Well it’s nice for her to be there anyways. She hardly gets to see them anymore. Besides, little Avaleen is still afraid of Grandpa.”

“Yeah, I’m hoping she gets over that soon. How have you bee..”

A strange drunk woman he had never met before interrupted them.

“Hey who’s this? He’s hot!”

“This is my brother Tim.”

“Wow, he’s so hot.”

She stumbled over to him.

“My name’s Cass…cassanbra…cassandra…you’re hot. You look like Bruce Banner.”

She then stumbled back to her seat by her friends. Melanie and Tim looked at each other trying to hold back a laugh.

Tim turned to the bar tender.

“Who’s Bruce Banner??”

The Bartender responded, “He’s the actor who played the Hulk.”

“Oh, let me see if I can find a picture of him.”

Tim pulled out his phone, went to Google images, and did a Google search for “Bruce Banner”.

He pulled up a picture and showed the bartender.

“Like this guy?”

The bartender said, “Yeah totally, with your beard, you do kind of look like him.”

Melanie got up to go to the bathroom. As soon as Cassandra saw the seat open next to Tim she came back over and put her hand on Tim’s Lap.

“You’re so hot.”

Tim decided to play along. “Is that you’re only pickup line?”

“Honey, I don’t need pickup lines, I’m so hot.”

“No really, is that the only line you got?”
“How about why don’t you fuck my brains out?”

“Okay and after I do that then what?”

“I don’t know…we keep doing it.”

Melanie returned from the bathroom and scooted Cassandra back to her seat. Tim and Melanie smirked at each other.

“Well Melanie,” Tim said as he slammed the rest of his drink and pushed the change form his $20 to the bartender, “It was nice talking to you I better go pick up Avaleen and get her back home.”

“Okay, thanks for stopping buy, we’ll see you later brother!”
