The news is flooded with reports that President Obama and Democratic leaders are trying to make yet another push toward passing the Healthcare Reform. The Healthcare Reform bill that would force millions of americans to purchase something just for being alive. The Healthcare Reform bill that now seeks to give even more money to the insurance companies it so despises by forcing millions more people to pay them and then using taxpayer money to provide subsidies to insurance companies in order to keep the costs low. This list could go on and on, but the question is why?
The only answer I’ve been able to come up with is that since President Obama got into office and the Democrats gained control in Congress and the Senate; they’ve done absolutely nothing. In fact, so far they have continued to spend billions of dollars in stimulus’s and bailouts while expanding unpopular wars. They are doing exactly the same thing the previous administration was doing and they are doing the exact opposite of what people expected from them when they went to the polls in 2008 to vote for them.
It is no surprise to learn that the 2010 mid-term elections are receiving ample coverage on how the democrats are going to lose their majority. Not only have they done less than nothing to help America, they’ve hurt it more than ever. They’ve passed legislation that has no funding and no way to pay for it. The national deficit is at an all time high, each one of my kids owes over $40,000 right now as their share, and so do everyone elses kids, and even those who aren’t born yet.
The common excuse is that they inherited this mess. After 2 years of inheritance and only making the problems worse, I think it’s time to give up on that. If you get a mess the first thing you do is try to fix it, you don’t keep making the problems worse by doing the same thing that caused it, that’s illogical. It’s no longer just the Bush Administration’s mess, Obama has not only inherited the mess, but he’s claimed it as his own and made it worse. Now you can pretend that this bill does more good than harm, but you’ll really have to pretend or not read the actual bill to believe it. You can pretend that it will lower your insurance premiums or stick it to the health insurance companies, again you’ll have to really play make believe here and not read the bill. You can even pretend that the 40 million uninsured are a burden on the system because of uncompensated care (even though uncompensated care accounts for less than 2% of spending, is mostly done by illegal aliens of which the bill won’t stop, and over 75% is spent on preventable diseases a problem no one is addressing), so you can pretend that. You can pretend and even picture the 40 million people are sick and dying and want health insurance but just can’t get it, again you will have to pretend, most of the 40 million uninsured that are legal citizens don’t want or need healthcare and are going to be extremely pissed when they have to buy it to cover costs of others, you can pretend this too.
You can play make believe all day if you want, it’s your right. I’ve read comments on blogs, news posts, and then some about this bill. I know some of you like to pretend some of this stuff, but if you really educated yourself, read what the bill says, read what people are saying about things in the bill and use some common sense to project out what the consequences of some of these changes they want to make will be, you will be far better off. I see a lot of people just blindly believing some of the selling points of the bill that keep getting passed around, we are smarter than this, you’ve been marketed to and that’s the truth of it. Now go research the product before you buy it, don’t pull out your credit card and say that sounds good where do I sign up. Actually look into the product this time.
The democrats are now trying to push this bill FOR the mid-term elections even though over 70% of america is opposed to it. They are doing this because when you look at the last 2 years, they have absolutely no accomplishments and nothing to show for their time. They have NOTHING to pitch to their current constituents, they have nothing to show that they actually helped anyone or did anything. Unless you honestly think the bailouts and stimulus’s worked, but that’s just another marketing strategy, go out and read and see the effects yourself. We are at a realized 20% unemployment rate once you take into consideration people that no longer are looking for work or fell off unemployment insurance. So they’ll try to use this bill, if it somehow passes, to show the good they did. Whatever, I wanted President Obama to bring real change to america, I just feel let down now, like most of you probably do too. It’s time to make a real change in 2010 and 2012 and undo this monstrosity we created.
