So the bill passes the house 219-212 along party lines.  Almost immediately after, states join together to sue over the law claiming it’s unconstitutional.  Things like the mandated health insurance, which I’m not sure how you would say that it’s not unconstitutional since it seems highly illegal to force people to buy something, are going to be challenged.

It’s worse than mandated retirement with social security, which I wish they would also challenge because that seems illegal, at least I don’t see how anyone in modern times would think the government can steal nearly 15% of their money for a mandated retirement account, provide no account information so you can check your balance, and for them to hold onto the money and in most cases spend from the account, while you have no access to it.  Not to mention, why we think the government can invest it or use it better than we would, it’s mind baffling to me.

No normal person would give someone 15% of their paycheck voluntarily to someone and not have some accountability of the money, I’m not sure how that even got passed in the first place.  If I deposit $50 at my bank I want online access to it and the ability to pull the money out at my pleasure, but that’s me.

For those of you who wonder why I say 15% it’s because if you’re employed you only pay half, your employers pays the other half, which also means they can’t give that money to you, so you do really end up paying 15% employed or self-employed.

Hopefully at the very least the mandated health insurance will be repealed by the courts.

I can’t imagine how over 50% is anything but a mathematical majority, it’s not a good thing to pass a bill with just over 50% in my opinion.  That still means almost half the people who were represented were against it, that’s a really divided country.  I don’t think anything should be passed in either houses without 90% of the vote, or at least the 75% which is required to amend the constitution.  I can’t imagine how it can be a good idea to pass some major reform strictly on party lines when it’s that close to 50%.  One thing is for sure, we are living in history making times here, it will be awesome to see how this unfolds, but terrible if I have to buy mandated health insurance.
